A standard-issue liberal went to Cuba to enjoy socialism. But didn't.
Donald Worth kept asking people to blame President Trump for everything. But they didn't; they (can you believe it?) blamed Fidel Castro and his criminal cronies. And it, I mean they, made him MAD. Quoting from Newsbusters:
Here is another measure of Cubans’ anger at their government: During nine days of travel around the island, I did not meet a single person who blamed Donald Trump or the United States for their situation. I sometimes reminded them about the blockade Trump had started earlier this year, cutting Cubans off from the cheap oil that Venezuela had been supplying before the U.S. military captured Nicolás Maduro in January. Hadn’t things gotten worse since then?

“I don’t see any change since January,” a retired engineer named Guillermo Almeida told me. “That oil from Venezuela wasn’t reaching the people anyway.” He and others said that the more important turning point was the coronavirus pandemic, which destroyed Cuba’s tourism industry and shrank the value of remittances from family members abroad that many Cubans depend on, exposing more fully a state that had long been depleted. Another man put it differently: “It seems to us that the real embargo is inside of Cuba.”
Wow. Credit to Worth for reporting what he saw. Will he be shunned for telling the truth?
